If you would like to participate, here is some information you need to know:

  • All participants must be in good standing with Kawaii Kon.
  • A Maximum of 20 individuals or groups may enter this event.
  • Groups are limited to 10 individuals.
  • There is a 3-minute time limit for each skit. Performances that run longer than this will be stopped at the 3 minute mark, and entrants will be removed from the stage.

  • There is a mandatory review and rehearsal 4pm on Thursday, April 9th at the Hawaii Convention Center, in Room 312. You do not have to be in costume- this is an opportunity for the Kawaii Kon staff to work with you on cues, run through the order of the groups, and make sure that everything is in accordance with Kawaii Kon rules and regulations. Any changes are at the sole discretion of the event coordinator, and any objections may be grounds for dismissal. To this rehearsal you must bring:

    1. An Entry Form filled out by each individual or group that would like to participate. The Entry Form can be found here. Do not mail or e-mail this entry form, but rather, bring it with you to the rehearsal.
    2. A Waiver/Release Form completed and signed by each entrant. The Waiver/Release Form can be found here. Any entrant that is not 18 years old or older at the time of this event must have their parent or legal guardian sign the appropriate section of this form. Do not mail or e-mail this entry form, but rather, bring it with you to the rehearsal.
    3. A CD with all dialogue and/or music prerecorded in a format compatible with any audio CD or DVD player. There will be no microphones on stage. Keep all recordings at or under the 3 minute time limit- If any recordings run over the time limit, it will be cut off at the end, to fit the time limit. Also, do not bring official CDs, with instructions on what tracks to play. Kawaii Kon and its staff will not be responsible if any CDs are lost or stolen.

If you are unable to attend this rehearsal, please e-mail Chris Macedonio at: cmacedonio@gmail.com no later than Friday, April 3rd 2009 to make alternate arrangements. Any group whose performance has not been reviewed prior to Kawaii Kon 2009 will not be allowed to perform.

  • All Entrants must provide Kawaii Kon with a short introduction, to be read by the MC, using no more than 40 words.
  • Entrants may request a particular placing in the performance order, such as first, last, etc., but the event coordinator has the final say in the presentation order. Any objections over the final order may result in dismissal.
  • Each entry will be judged by a panel of judges for the following awards:
    • Best Skit
    • Most Original Skit
    • Most Humorous Skit
    • Best Performance

The criteria for choosing winners in these categories are at the sole discretion of the judges. Some categories may not have a winner, depending on the type of skits presented.
