Kawaii Kon 2010 Presents: Karaoke Kompetition!!
Preliminary Round 1Proudly sponsored by the UH Manga and Anime Society
There will be 3 preliminary rounds this year, all open to the public. The first one will be held at UH Manoa, Art Auditorium, Art building, room 132. It will be Sunday, February 28th, starting at 3pm. Please be on time.
In order to participate, you must perform in at least one of these preliminary rounds. On any of the designated days, bring a completed entry form with you. There will be a Kawaii Kon representative at the front of the room that will collect your form, and give you a number.
Entry Form to be available soon.
You may bring a CD with your music if you wish, or you may sing "acapella" (without music)- it's up to you. If you bring a CD, it must be able to play in a standard CD player, and cannot contain any vocals, except for back-up vocals.
The song you choose to sing is up to you- for these preliminary rounds, it can be anything you want- with one exception; no excessive swearing.
Once the round begins, no new participants will be accepted for that round- so please come on time!! Each participant will be called up one by one, by their designated number, to perform.
A panel of judges will evaluate each competitor on technique, stage presence, vocal quality and appearance.
The judges reserve the right to stop the performance at any point.
Once everyone has performed, there will be a short deliberation period, after which 3 lucky contestants will be chosen as semi-finalists! If you do not make the cut, you can continue to try until there are no remaining preliminary rounds. In other words, if you compete on February 28th and you do not make the cut, you can try again in March.
Please note, that the eventual winner will have performed a minimum of 2 songs- therefore, when you are chosen as a semi-finalist, you should have 2 songs practiced and ready to be performed by the time Kawaii Kon 2010 rolls around. Please see the rules for each round for information on what types of songs you can use. You may re-use songs, as long as they fit the specific criteria for that particular round.
