eSports Hawaii will be hosting a SCII King of the Hill Style tournament on Friday and Saturday at Kawaii Kon.
eSports Hawaii’s SCII HotS King of the Hill tournament is open to players of all skill levels. The “King of the Hill” format will match the first two players to sign-up against each other, with the winner advancing to play the next player on the list, and so on, until all players have played once and a winner declared, or until 6pm, whichever comes first.
FORMAT – King of 2 Hills
-After sign-ups close, players will be divided into 2 groups(A, B) based on the order they signed up (1st player that signs up will be in A, 2nd player to sign up will be in B, 3rd player will be in A, etc)
-The first two players to sign up in each group will play against each other, with the winner advancing to play the next player on the list in their group.
-All Group stage matches are best of 1.
-At 6pm or when a winner in each group is declared, the top player in each group will go head to head in a best of 3 match. The winner of this match will be declared champion or KING.
REGISTRATION
-Registration opens at 10am
-Registration closes at 2pm
-$5 to enter
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE – Friday and Saturday
10am – Registration Opens / Free Play begins
2pm – Registration Closes / Free Play ends/Tournament Begins
6pm – Finals (Winner will be crowned King)
CHECK-IN PROCESS
-After sign ups, the first 6 players to sign up must be present at 2pm when the tournament starts.
-Players that signed up after the first 6 players will be notified via text message when they are 2nd on the list to play.
-To ensure that the tournament proceeds in a timely, organized manner, players will have 20 minutes to check-in for their match at our booth after we have sent out the text message.
-Players not present for their match will be skipped over for one match. If they are not present the 2nd time, they will be disqualified from the tournament.
RULES AND POLICIES
-If a player manages to win four consecutive matches, he or she will be granted a one-game break, during which the next two competitors on the list will play. The winner of that match will then play the reigning “King” following his/her break. This policy will be implemented for every four wins, so if a player wins eight consecutive games, he or she will receive two breaks, et cetera.
-In the event that less than eight players sign up for this event, the player list will be played through twice. In the event of this situation, the group play will still end at 6pm even if all players have not played twice
-If a connection problem were to occur and a player disconnects before the in-game clock reaches five minutes, the game will be replayed. If a disconnect occurs after the five minute mark, the game may be replayed if both players consent to a rematch. If one or both players claim the match to have been functionally and practically over before the disconnect occurred, an tournament organizer will review the match and make a determination. This determination may favor either player, or may be found to be inconclusive and require that players replay the game in question.
MAP POOL
-This tournament will begin on map Ohana LE, with the winner of each match selecting the map for the next game. Each map may only be selected once per four games.
- In the event that a winner takes their 1 game break after 4 wins, the least played map will be used for the match between the next 2 people on the list. In the event of a tie, the Tournament Organizer will pull a map out of a hat.
- When the winner comes back after their 1 game break, they are allowed to pick the next map or defer.
-This tournament will use the current SC2 Ladder Map Pool.
