MDA Children's Summer Camp VIP Day, 6/24/12

El-lo, fellow cosplayers! Just throwing a shout out to all of you cosers who are interested in doing good deeds in the community and giving "props" to your Anime Club or resume'...

As it is every year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association Hawai'i Chapter is having their Children's Summer Camp Sponsor's Day, June 24, 2012, 10am-2pm, Sunday, at Camp Erdman, Mokuleia. And, are inviting costumers/ cosplayers to make an appearance for the kiddie-boos at their VIP day.

There will be several costuming groups that will make an appearance to this festive day, the Pacific Outpost 501st and the LGC, to name a few for now...

Appearances, local celebs, photo ops for the MDA newsletter, and presentations by the costume groups, not to mention, a BBQ lunch... speaking openly, that's the deal sealer for me! JJK, of course... it's all about the kids at this shindig!

Oh, and the theme of the camp and VIP day is "Jungle Safari"... that's super radical cool for me... I'm going in my TF2 Sniper cosplay! (or any costume will do fine).

Heh... aye... anything doing with big game animals... Lions, Tigers and Bears... oh, my!

YO! Want to thank the Pac 501st, members of the CGH, the LGC, and Ghostbusters Hawai'i Division for their time and contributions to this fun and special event/cause in helping in the fight against neuromuscular diseases... the campers and counselors including staff were delighted to see us, as we mingled with them throughtout the entire event. A great send off and day to remember on their last day at camp... AWRIGHT! The other fun part also was riding down altogether to the camp in our very own "Imperial Transport"... a 20+ passenger mini bus w/AC, including an ADA-certified wheelchair lift, complete with removable floor ratchet straps! (look out for the "Pac Transport" at the next 501st trooping!)

MDA 2012 Summer Camp Volunteer

Thanx, VT! Nice to have someone taking a liking to these community services we Cosplayers do for the betterment of those in need... what better way of speading enlightment than doing an appearance in your cosplay/ costume for a charitable event! I tried to stay in total character, but the UH Football Team had me speaking pidgeon english instead... funny and fun that was! I wanted the MC Pipi to play more groovin' music, but the electric aura from the campers and their familes were good enough! All those that gave their time there were super cool... Oye! Looking forward to next years' engagement!

Here's a group photo of the Campers, counselors and staff of the 6-day long fun-filled camp. Despite their physical disavantages, the kids really had more spirit than all the people there combinded... and then some! Such great and brave youngsters they are! Glad to have been part of that...Mahalo and AIM HIGH, MDA!
