there was soooooo much street fighter this year that i didn't even know that there was tatsunoko vs capcom. I didn't even see tekken 6 D:

i'm happy there was a DDR machine instead of the PS2 DDR and ddr mats. but i just wished that it was a more updated version of ddr.

The Brawl sections were fine, but I was a little sad about the lack of controllers. There should have been an announcement to bring your own controllers (just, not RIGHT BEFORE the convention).

Halo was awesome, except there was this one guy who insisted on playing gametypes no one really wanted. Was looking to more straight-forward games. Reach might be available for next year, but I'd reserve judgement on that until I try it out.

Left 4 Dead 2 was also great. Nice way to kill time, and if I may, suggest getting The Passing DLC too. I think a new rotation system should be used so we can get as much people the chance to play as possible.

The Nintendo 64 was a blast from the past. I didn't really spend too much time on the right side of the room (fighting games aren't my thing, but it seemed to work really well, especially the Street Fighter 4 spot).

I honestly can't think of anything new. Rock Band 2, Halo, Brawl, Left 4 Dead, and Street Fighter are probably secured crowd favorites. That new game room was fantastic and I hope the cost paid for itself (though I doubt it).

I tried to even the battle field out, because two guys were winning every round. It went up to from what i remember 35 wins(not kills) in a row. I was sick of seeing four people who know what their doing destroying a team of people who have no idea what their doing. Thank you for your input ill work on that next year.

Gotta find a way to balance the teams.

Any suggestions you may have on Halo throw em my way. I seem to be the person in our group that plays the most halo.

i guess we watch which 4 is good and which four is not then before the next games. swap 2 people on the tvs. or we make it a free for all. one of my old map settings with nothing but grav hammers or swords

that section wasnt under our control. we have no way to regulate what goes on that side of the room.

i think we gonna need to start bringing fans.

Yea, on the Halo note. Saw the guy calling things out. I played one game. Had three noobs on my team but it's all good. I had 18 kills at the end of the game. The one dude was being all obnoxious, calling game types out that no one cared to play. Personally I wanted a good old fashioned game of slayer. Had to leave at the end of my one game before I did something that woulda got me arrested to that one guy. :)

All in all, the game room was good fun. Even though i spent most of my time on SF4. :V Of course next year, Halo Reach. I can see why the MW2 wouldn't fly. Can't do split screen cross systems afaik(as far as i know). Woulda just took up alot of space from other games and even then, the premade classes aren't that fun to use.

Btw, for the guy way above. Starcraft 2 is street dated for July 27th. xD

If your talking about me(the volunteer) as stated above I was trying to balance the teams. It was hard to keep two guys from playing the entire time because they win every time. Trust me watching two guys win for nearly 6 hours kinda gets to you.

I dont know why I made such a problem before. A two years back we had a ton of random games and everyone loved it(apparently no one liked griff ball anyways). Last year too(friends dressed as ODST) and played Halo 3 running hammers on Snowbound.

Guess ill just sit on reach and destroy everything next year. I will want to "do something to get me arrested" when I play.

Need more games for Nintendo like Kart and Mario Bros. It would welcome noobs instead of taking an attempt L4D or focus only on NGC and NWii.

Nah, doesn't sound like you. It was some... guy lol. Think he was just some attendee. Trying to pull rank and force everyone to do MLG rules like we gave a damn. Mostly hated his attitude. Talking ?{_& to everyone. I dont mind if someone is as well as i am or better, if they have good sportsmanship. But this dude, was just an *?:". If you were the volunteer in that section... cool.... just more moderation... totally didnt feel welcome to play Halo with people having that kinda attitude.

I don't know, that does sound like what the guy was trying to do. I only played one game as a means to kill time, but I think it may be required to have both sides switch out, depending on the size of the crowd. BTW, the annoying guy might have been me (was wearing a blue jacket). I saw a game of low gravity, hammers on Guardian and saw people exploit the middle to gain a vantage point and snipe everyone. I just wanted to play a normal gametype (prefer Slayer, but any objective based games are great). What really aggravated me was that there was this one guy who didn't want to switch. I played one game and that was it for me. And I'm not sure if it was a volunteer. Didn't see the staff badge but looked more like a three-day pass.

Babbling aside, I just thought of a new game for the room:
Time Crisis (2-4) and every time someone dies, they switch. I saw that there was a corner of the room (in front of the administrator's table, I guess) that had two PS3s and there didn't seem to be much happening (I rarely stayed in the video game room so I can't be sure.

I think the Street Fighter bit was exaggerated: I remember only seeing that one big booth and another area, two Rockbands, 4 Super Smash Brothers, a plethora of computers and fighting games, one DDR, a wall of 360s, and one Beatmania. Pretty good haul this year and I pray that HVGL and Otaku-5 returns for 011.

Dead Rising 2 pops to mind, but that's probably for a very small, very patient crowd.

I am pleased the amount of support from the boards and feel blessed that Kawaii Kon has fine volunteers and directors that try to make the experience as great as possible. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to read through back-copies of Game Informer and see if they're any more games that could be considered.

i tried to keep ppl from changing settings and caught a few people going into our systems and changing profile names to suit them or to reflect their own gamer tags. when that happened i simply kick them off the game. i considered it tampering with out systems. if you dont like being called player 1,2,3,4 or the volunteers GT then dont play. certain kon goers think they have the right to change profile name they dont. most likely these are the one who was ruining it for everyone else. perhaps more regulating i should consider

Problem with time crisis 2 and 3, I take forever to die.

And thank you for justifying that last post my apologies for my comment I was a understanding. That guy was driving me nuts as well. Gotta admit though thats the halo community, I personally yell the hell at everybody when i play. Reach is gonna drive people nuts, assassinations and teabagging a deadly combo.

Again ill make sure the halo reach games next year will be more fun, I promise. Maybe a win cap, 2 games and switch out and keep the trash talk down.

A pokemon contest: To see who breeds their pokemon the best
A pokemon Battle tourney. These two may depend when pokemon Black and White come out.
Slipknot track pack for Rock Band (I really wanted to sing those songs that much). Halo Reach if possible.
and dont forget... BUST A MOVE!!

you can play pokemon and/or challenge each other but, the department wont do tournaments. that involves having people sign up, setting an entrance fee, prizes and such. its a lot of planning, setting up and using resource i dont think we have anymore.

Halo Reach is a definite probability, as are whatever other games the comes out from now till kon next year.

If we're able to get copies before next Kon, then Halo Reach will definitely be put on the table. We had talked with HVGL, and we were hoping (WANTING) to network some computers for Starcraft 2 and get a tourney going. Hopefully Starcraft 2 supports LAN... they should considering the popularity of SC tournaments, so hopefully they won't make a stupid mistake by taking LAN capability out.

Zen's 360 has ALL (or close to all) the songs for Rock Band 2... we had only put it out on Saturday however, due to some conflicts and other reasons. While it was out, it was a huge crowd favorite (as expected).

As for Pokemon, in the past, Tabletop Gaming actually took control of that, but I'm unsure of whether they still allow portable gaming and tournaments there. It'll be brought up at the next gaming staff meeting... maybe we can set aside some space for portable gamers. Please keep in mind, however, that space is somewhat premium, especially with the plans we have for next year, and that the convention center charges per chair and table now. I would like to have a small gaming lounge area though to allow such activities... it'll be controlled however, as in no acting stupid or I personally kick your @$$ out of the room. As the gaming room staffers know, I can be a control freak at times, lol.

If we can find people to donate (lend) Time Crisis, I'm sure we wouldn't mind hosting it... if we have available space and TV's.

tried to keep ppl from changing settings and caught a few people going into our systems and changing profile names to suit them or to reflect their own gamer tags.......certain kon goers think they have the right to change profile name they dont. most likely these are the one who was ruining it for everyone else. perhaps more regulating i should consider

I couldn't agree with you more, Brandon. These are OUR systems; a fact that some people just don't understand or respect. However, it does fall to us to watch over the systems and ensure such shenanigans are detected, confronted, and dealt with (WITH A DOUBLE DOWN TO THE FACE). As such, I praise you for kicking noobie azz, sir.

Nah, doesn't sound like you. It was some... guy lol. Think he was just some attendee. Trying to pull rank and force everyone to do MLG rules like we gave a damn.

Point him out to us next time... or me personally and I'll take care of it. :) I have an awesome amount of rage and aggro stored during kon. In fact, I'll plead with you to let me handle it next time LOL.

And EDF is awesome. Tortoise Missile ftw, gentlemen.

As much as I would love to host a room full of MAG (it would require a room, no less, as 8 player or even 16 player MAG would be a complete and utter waste of the game) we do not have the TVs, consoles, personnel, space, tables, chairs, monster hunters, failboats, anti-air weaponry, Chuck Norris, furries, or etcs to host such an event. Thus, I must submit my formal apology.

How's Medal of Honor sound, instead? Should it come out in time, and should the multiplayer be awesome, of course. If Gears of War 3 should happen to come out, though, I will accept nothing else on the 360 consoles. NOTHING. Unless it happens to be Monster Hunter Frontier. If that's the case, I will not be attending Kawaii-Kon, but shall instead be located in my cave carving up countless hordes of Kut Ku's.

I don't that should be too much of a problem if we have the screens for it. It might be a game we cycle out on for PS3.

As for Rock Band 3... allow me to quote an awesome quote that has lasted through the age of quoting for the sake of quoting such a quote. (with a few changes) "What are you, dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think we are? We're the goddamn K-K Gaming." xD Of course we'll be having Rock Band 3, haha. Be sure to join us in completely rocking out and getting kicked out because we aren't doing our jobs due to RB3 LOL. I'm hogging the keyboard, betches. xD If it comes out before the Kon, I'm sure all of us will have more than enough copies to go around. Of course, Zen may have 2-3 copies for himself along with all the songs released as DLC, like usual. I vote we use Zen's. And someone get a 3g/4g internet connection to hook up the 360's for updates and sync for DLC access.

As for teh Blazblue, I will give the age-old time-forbidden phrase of "we'll see". We can probably put it on an extra tv since we have (or should have) quite a bit of 360's. The question is more like, are you willing to donate a 360 Blazblue game? I'm not sure who has a 360 Blazblue in our department. If we can find someone with Tekken 6, I wouldn't mind having that up as a switch-out for Blazblue. I'd prefer both on PS3, though. The 360 could be better used to run awesomer games. ... such as Halo Reach and Rock Band 3. As a side note, does anyone know if Killzone 3 has a release date yet?

if by "donate" you mean like letting KK borrowing it and giving it back to me, then yes. but if it's giving our blazblue to KK to let them keep it, then no ^^; i understand that you want to keep the 360's free for halo or left 4 dead, mostly games that are xbox 360 exclusives.

I'm actually a big enough of a fan, that I would be willing to help setup such a tournament and even run it. Although, I would like to know what it would take for me to help out and what resources I would have available.

have you ever ran a tournament before? being a fan is one thing being a promoter is completely different. youd need to ask the VG director to hold a tournament. Mospp is the director for video games. consult with him first. if he says no then no.
